Scarlett Belle is Tamara Jaber and Reigan Derry, the hot new urban pop duo, who are ready to set the music charts on fire. Based between Los Angeles and Sydney, Scarlett Belle have been working on their debut album with the likes of Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, JR Rotem (Britney Spears, Rihanna, Jason Derulo, 50 Cent), Nate Dogg and production team Stargate (Rihanna, Beyonce, Chris Brown), as well as acclaimed Australian producers Rudy and Israel. Tamara came to our attention as a member of ARIA award winning pop group Scandal'us, scoring a top 20 solo single, and 1 dance single and Reigan too, came to attention on Australian TV. Tamara and Reigan’s fates soon became intertwined. "I saw Reigan singing on TV,” Tamara says, “and I was like 'wow, this girl is gorgeous, she’s amazing’. I called her randomly to come to Sydney and sing with me. Three years later, she still hadn’t moved out!” Scarlett Belle’s debut is as seductive as the girls themselves, and saw them working with the biggest names in music. It was a chance meeting with Snoop Dogg at the 2007 Good Vibrations festival in Sydney that set off this chain of events. "We sang for him and ended up recording with him in the studio the entire night. He was loving it and invited us to spend three months in America recording with him and Nate Dogg. We've had these surreal moments with these amazing people that you just dream of." Snoop’s enthusiasm saw the duo in the midst of a record label bidding war. "It happened really quickly. We sang for Clive Davis, we sang for L.A. Reid and we sang for Jimmy Iovine, all within the space of a day. They were just like 'My God, who are these people? Where are they from?' It was very surreal.” Almost entirely co-written by Tamara and Reigan, the songs on the album showcase lyrically driven R&B, blending Tamara's strong sweetness with Reigan's soulful melodies. "The album is pop, but there are so many harmonies. Some songs are dance infused," Reigan explains. On one end of the spectrum it offers up loungey, sensual R&B with slow club beats and on the other, it's simply two pure voices encased in super catchy pop songs. Add in some female empowerment in the vein of Destiny’s Child and a little bit of heartbreak and you've got yourself the whole package: a perfectly crafted pop/R&B debut. "At the end of the day Scarlett Belle is two girls exchanging stories and that's what I see the album as," Reigan explains. "It’s all these stories and it's a friendship where one is explaining it to the other." Read more on Last.fm.
