Silence Kit is an indie\post-rock band from Moscow, Russia, named after the song by Pavement. "Silence Kit" formed in April 2002 when to the brit-pop "Dairy High" band’s core Boris Belov, Grigoriy Alexanyan and Fedor Dmitriev joined Andrey Gavrilov – keyboards (ex-guitarist and voice of “Mosty” band) and Sergey Bogatov – bass (ex-“Squash”). In February, 2003 Grigoriy Alexanyan (drums) left the band. Sergei Ledovski from “Lumeny” replaced him. At the end of year 2002 the band released by own strength its first album named «Silence kit» which was distributed free of charge. In summer 2003 professional violoncellist Yaroslav Kovalev joined the team, Andrey Gavrilov left it in autumn. In May, 2004 the band released its second album “Pieonear” by own strength again. During years 2004-2005 SK had active concert activity: it opened by its performance first Avant festival, went on tours (Nizhiy Novgorod, Tver, Saint-Petersburg). Perfomances with Spanish Mus, Czech Ravelin 7 as well as 3 Russian capitals tour with Britons from Hood in the frames of second Avant festival and on “Afisha’s” Piknik” performances are entering the on the credit side. September, 5 of 2005 tragically perished band’s violoncellist Yaroslav Kovalev. Despite this fact and drummer’s leaving the band didn't stop its activity. Nairi Simonyan from Urartu, the owner of "Figurestatic Music" label who republished all of band’s albums becomes a new drummer With Nairi the band continued it's concert activity (particulary it performed on one stage with "Piano Magic", "Red Sparowes", ex-soloist of "Skunk Anansie" Skin, participated in international "Stop The Silence" festival with "Sounds Like Violence", "Tribes Of The City", "Punk TV", "Soundarcade" ). Nevertheless on “Avant 2007” festivals on drums was Sergei Ledovski who returned to the band. Furthermore "Silence Kit" is quintet again after acquisition of one more guitarist Evgeniy Frankevich ("Placenta", “Secrets Of 3rd Planet”). The album "The Great Red Spot" is Nairi Simonyan-aided. One of the compositions' demo-version was represented as soundtrack for 1924 “Interplanetary Revolution” cartoon. Another one which was not included to the album composition is in the “Avant 2007” collection. The disc the same way as 2004 year’s "Pieonear"is released on the proper band’s label Lemonsmellstreet.
