Simon Digby , a musical chameleon. Simon started his DJ career as a mobile DJ playing at his school friends house parties. His taste in music along with his smooth mixing & ability to play to the audience quickly gained him a reputation amongst the youth culture of Essendon. He soon had the prime time slots at a few of Melbournes biggest clubs, Chasers, Metro, The Prince of Wales & Redhead. His talent didn't stop there. He was soon snapped up by the infamous Richie Rich McNeil. Richie made Simon the operations/ production manager of the Hardware corporation. Under Simon Hardware produced some of the biggest & most successful rave parties ever seen in Melbourne. Simons greatest feat was the conceptualization of a joined party with Hardware & Future Entertainment, he named it "Two Tribes" The show packed out shed 14 at central pier with close to 20,000 people, it headlined numerous international acts, the most memorable being Der Dritte Raums sunrise set. Simon the musical chameleon played house music, techno, trance, minimal, tech house & a few genres that I can't quite put my finger on. He has played along side the likes of Der Dritte Raum, Christian Smith, The Advent, Devil Fish, Ade Fenton, CJ Bolan, DJ Rush, Humate, Valentino, Marco Baily, Umek, Carl Cox & Jeff Mills, the list goes on. He along with Will e Tell formed Wet Musik, the duo went as hard as they could, pushing the punters senses to the limits of speed, volume & visuals at their live gigs. Wet Musik dissolved along with the old school Melbourne rave seen not long after the turn of the century. All was not lost, Simon the astute business entrepreneur was invited to join a new crew. This crew invested heavily based on Simons contacts & knowledge of the scene, Melbournes premier house club was born, Alumbra. Today Alumbra hosts world class artists back in Simons old stomping grounds, the docks at central pier. With the same passion driven zeal as back in the day, Simon hunts down the acts & puts together world class events for an intimate crowd of a few thousand of Melbournes most discerning listeners & dancers. Some of the acts have included Dj Spen, Dimitri from Paris, Dennis Ferrer & Miguel Migs. We have not heard the last of Simon Digby, not by a long shot. Read more on Last.fm.
