There are at least four bands called Slow Loris. 1.) Slow Loris is the musical project of Delaware native Wesley Doyle. SL moved to Madison, WI from the East Coast in the fall of 2009. Wes's musical style might generally be described as lo-fi rock. He released an EP entitled Dream Vacation in 2010, followed by his first full-length solo album, Extra Colors the same year. In 2011, he released Routine Glow. In 2014, he released the Pictures of Everything EP. 2.) Slow Loris are an instrumental rock band from Toronto, consisting of Daryl Smith (guitar, engineering), Dave Walsh (bass), and three members of Guh: Jason Clarke (guitar), Brian Cram (trumpet and keyboards) and Blake Howard (drums). Because of Lounge elements in their music, and their use of trumpet, they are most usually compared to Tortoise, though Slow Loris music has a grittier edge and is more improvisational in character, resembling on occasion the extra-terrestrial timbres of Pram, or the wheezing melodies of Home. Initially, the band refused to play live, and their first public airing was in the form of a self-titled EP on Chemical Sound in 1993. Finally they started to appear before audiences, playing their first gig on the street outside a Toronto restaurant, and establishing a following through support slots with Pavement, Red Red Meat and Codeine. After another EP, Palantine, they were brought into the Southern Records fold for their 1996 debut album, The Ten Commandments and Two Territories According to Slow Loris. A uniquely savage take on the then-vogue Lounge revival, both keyboard sounds and melody lines were so heavily distorted the record went beyond pastiche into a soundworld entirely its own. Track titles made for amusing “commandments” such as 'Soil Thy Bed Clothes', 'Boil Edna' and 'Thou Shall Not Destroy Tokyo'. There followed a decade-long silence, during which Smith resumed his sound engineering career, producing acts like Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Sloan. In 2006, however, Slow Loris popped up again unexpectedly with a new album, Jimmy Chicken Island, released through www.zunior.com. While less frenetic than the debut, the record retained the same line-up, and the unique Slow Loris melodic flair. 3.) Slow Loris is also a post-punk band from San Francisco, CA. 4) A band from Brisbane Australia active in the 1990s who released an album and appeared on the cd compilation "Fuck the White Race" Read more on Last.fm.
