Sonia Pérez

Currently Sonia is singing in the Dutch groups Caimán and Pan con Timba. Caimán's latest release is "Somos caimán". Sonia Pérez is born on may 2nd 1969 in Camagüey in Cuba, she started her musical career at the age of ten with guitar lessons. Soon after her first performance followed as a singer in the Casa de la Cultura in Camagüey. In 1988 at the age of nineteen she became a professional soloist and played a show in hotel Camagüey with Contacto. In the next years Sonia Pérez preformed with the groups La Orquesta de Música Moderna, Lagrimas Negras, Maravilla de Florida and others, playing in different parts of Cuba. At the same time Sonia Pérez studied at Instituto Superior de Música in Camagüey. In 1994 Sonia Pérez started touring the Netherlands and Belgium with the Cuban group Tradisón. Tradisón played at various radio en TV shows, and a lot off festivals. Sonia Pérez also recorded the album "La música y yo". with Tradisón. Since 1995 Sonia Pérez is living in the Netherlands and worked with different groups, like Cumbanero, Siete Potencias, Perlas Negras, Trio Amigos and others. In the beginning of 2006 Sonia Pérez recorded her solo album "Una Chica Como Yo" in Cuba. Read more on Last.fm.
