Spell Talk is a band based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, but was formed in Ogden, Utah in 2007. The original line up consisted of long time friends Jared Phelps, Andrew Milne and Sammy Harper who found influences in 60s psych rock. In Fall 2008 the trio released their first full-length album Free & Easy, which spawned shows throughout the Ogden and Salt Lake areas. September 2009 saw the addition of Dylan Roe on second guitar. The addition of a new member lead to a new direction in the band’s sound—Spell Talk began playing blues and psychedelia-infused rock n’ roll in the vein of groups like Dead Meadow, The Black Lips and The Entrance Band. 2010 saw the band really establishing a name for themselves within the Salt Lake music scene and beyond—winning local music awards, playing local music festivals, radio station benefits and hitting the road on numerous short regional tours, including a stint through the South-eastern states with Imaad Wasif.
