Whether he's remixing some of the world's top producers or working the dance floor, Steve Kaetzel has quickly become the next rising star of the electronic dance music community. With a steady stream of releases on the legendary Black Hole Recordings and a growing catalog of remixes, DJs and clubgoers around the globe are taking swift notice of this American powerhouse. Born in Cleveland, Steve began playing the piano at age 4, and while continuing to study music throughout middle and high school, his passion for composition was becoming more and more apparent. In 2000, he enrolled in the University of Kentucky School of Music to study piano, composition, and orchestration with aspirations of becoming a film composer, but it wasn’t until he received his first taste of dance music in the local club and rave scene that his new obsession with electronic production and DJing began to take shape. Moving westward to Seattle after graduation, it wasn’t long before he was spotted by Black Hole Recordings and signed to a two EP deal right out of the gates. The second of the two EPs, a collaboration with vocalist Brianna Holan titled “So Alone”, received near instantaneous worldwide support with airplay on some of the most well known dance radio shows and podcasts including Markus Schulz’s “Coldharbour Day”, Roger Shah’s “Magic Island: Music for Balearic People”, and “Anjunabeats Worldwide”. Along with the success of his original productions, Steve’s remixes have had no trouble making their way into the most high profile tracklists as well including Tiësto’s “Club Life” and Sander van Doorn’s “Identity”. And when it comes to his live show, Steve brings out all the stops with his Ableton Live powered setup. Equipped with a laptop and an APC40, he continues to tread new ground for live production and mashups. With heavy focus placed on playing his own productions in combination with the best in tech, progressive, and trance, his performances never cease to keep the floor moving. With more releases on the way and plans for future collaborations and touring, 2011 is sure to be a big year for Steve. Always searching for new ways to bring emotion and melody to the dance floor, the future looks quite bright for this uniquely talented artist as he continues his ascent to the upper regions of the global dance music arena.
