http://www.facebook.com/straylings http://straylings.com After a summer of cabin fever, recording in hallways and basements, Straylings have now completed their debut album, with Sam Bell (R.E.M, Regina Spektor) and John O’Mahony (Metric, Alberta Cross) at the mixing desk. Straylings follow the success of their EP last year on PIAS - gaining them praise from Steve Lamacq and legendary producer Kramer amongst others - with ‘Entertainment On Foreign Grounds’. "The missing link between Grace Slick and Bruise - and their album, nothing short of a future classic" said Green Man Music. Joined by various friends in the studio and on stage, they have played to packed out venues across London, including The Borderline, The Scala and a recently sold out show at The Barfly. Artrocker Magazine described their performance as; “Compelling…Straylings serve up cinematic heartbreak with a side dose of opium…somewhere between Mazzy Star and Jefferson Airplane”. Bahraini/Austrian songwriter Dana Zeera and London born guitarist Oliver Drake formed Straylings in 2007. Dana had moved from Bahrain to London in 2001 and was instantly drawn to the open mic nights of north London - a far cry from the Middle Eastern landscape she grew up in, with its lonely U.S Navy radio station and Filipino karaoke bars. Oliver eventually arrived at her doorstep having previously toured and recorded for some years with Rough Trade signing, ‘The Veils’. 'Entertainment On Foreign Grounds' is due for release March 2012 through Deadpan Records. Read more on Last.fm.
