Suman Sridhar

Suman Sridhar is a singer, actor and songwriter. She and Jeet Thayil form the Mumbai-based music duo, Sridhar/Thayil. She grew up in Mumbai with Indian classical music in her family and earned an undergraduate degree in western classical music from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA, where she studied voice under Professor Brian McIntosh. Suman collaborated with musicians in the NYC area. Her on-stage appearances include My Fair Lady (New Jersey, 1998), and musical adaptations of plays, Exit the King (TFA, Bangalore, 2007), and Day I Met the Prince (Working Title, Mumbai, 2009). Her discography includes appearance on independent albums, Violet Samudra (Earth Tones Music 2005) and Brown Circles (Brian Bond, 2006), and Hindi film scores, 404 (SAGA Music), Luv Ka The End (YRF Music) and Shaitan (T-Series). Suman has performed internationally and across India at the Great Escape Festival (UK), Southbank Centre (London), Galle Literary Festival (Sri Lanka), Prithvi Theatre Festival (Mumbai), Alliance Francaise World Music Day (New Delhi) etc. Suman co-wrote, co-produced and performed in original musical productions, Yoni Ki Baat (New Jersey, 2006) and The Flying Wallas: Opera Noir (Prithvi Theatre Festival, Mumbai, 2009).
