TG4 is ready to make the world scream. The quartet comprising Ambee, Davida, Ashley, and Keisha, hit the road this summer as a part of the Scream 2 tour co-headlined by teen male sensations Bow Wow and B2K, TG-4's big brother group. "We're so hyped about the Scream tour," said Ambee, who hails from Haynes City, Florida. "We feel like we're so blessed, because it's like our dream. And it happened really, really fast." Producer/Manager/Record Executive Chris Stokes, who is responsible for groups IMX (formerly known as Immature), B2K and discovered hot sensation Brandy Norwood, has now formed TG4. He offered Ambee the first spot in the T.U.G./A&M group after she opened for B2K and IMX at a concert in Orlando, Florida in early 2001. Davida, Ashley, and Keisha fell in line after a series of successful auditions. The girls wear the name TG4, code for Tom Girl 4, like a badge of honor, donning baggy clothes, and hard dance moves that warrant comparisons to guys, despite their God given beauty. "We're like four Tom Girls," said Ambee, who tied for the winning slot on Apollo Kids when she was 10. "'When you're a girl and you act like a boy, you're a tomboy. We're girls and we act like guys but love being girls, so we're tom girls." On their self-titled debut album, scheduled to be released this Fall, the animated young ladies sing about not rushing to have sex, back stabbing friends, and heartache over tracks primarily sculpted by Platinum Status, the production team fueled by Stokes, IMX, and Tony Scott. One of the most biting records is the group's debut single "Virginity" where the girls sing about refraining from having sex. The hypnotic, stuttering dance track rings with the catchy refreshing lyrics, "I might let you touch me/I might let you hold me/I might even let you kiss/But you can not take my virginity." The group was happy to use the song to address a major teen issue. "We realized that there are a lot of girls out there that are teenagers and they feel pressured by guys to do stuff that they don't want to do, that they aren't ready to do yet," said Davida, who has appeared as an actress on Sister Sister, Lizzy McGuire, and the Young And The Restless, and was set to co-star in a WB series at the same time she joined TG4. "So we decided that we should touch on the subject." The act that names J. Lo, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Beyonce Knowles, and B2K as influences also deals with other topics prevalent amongst teens. On the invigorating "Can't Trust A Friend" the girls chronicle betrayal. On confrontational "Busted" they recount the drama of catching a boyfriend with another man's woman. But they also show a vulnerable side on ballads such as "2 Minutes," "Crying On My Pillow," and "Pop The Question”. "We're also getting into songwriting," said Keisha, who has a background in jazz, ballet, lyrical and hip-hop dance. The group is beginning to work on penning songs for their next album. Considering the talent, charisma, and four distinct looks and personalities, TG4 is destined for success. Read more on Last.fm.
