Two bands share the name Tanooki Suit. 1. A post hardcore band from Massachusetts, U.S. The collective brainchild of Aleksander Kmiec (ex-Therefore I Am) and Tony Langone (Our Lives In Motion). Their first EP Euclid was released in 2013. 2. A garage rock band from Michigan, U.S. Patrick Carroll was the guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, and primary songwriter for the Traverse City, MI-based band Tanooki Suit. They described themselves as "emergency rock". T.S. formed in eighth grade in 2001, when long time friends Andrew and Will met Patrick and they all realized that they shared similar musical tastes. Later that summer Colin was added to the line-up, and they began to write and rehearse their own brand of sloppy, instrumental garage rock. A year passed, and after a few changes, (a slightly different sound, and Patrick on vocals) TS played their first show. After that they began practicing more than ever, developing their new sound into a unique blend of indie/emo/pop/rock. This new style was eventually put together to form their full-length debut, Yesyesyesterday. Shortly after the release, the band grew tired of their own style, as their musical tastes changed dramatically. This caused them to once again abandon their old songs, and begin writing all new material. This is the sound that they called "emergency rock", and it can be heard on their album R O U G H L I N E S. They played this type of music until their break-up after senior year in like 2006.
