Tarzen were an excellent hard rock band that at times came across as a sophisticated version of AC/DC. Gruff, whiskey soaked vocals that were complimented by melodic leads and backbeat. Formed in Madrid, Spain by former Banzai members Danny Peyronel (vocals and keyboards) and Salvador Dominguez (guitar). Peyronel had previously recorded with the Heavy Metal Kids and UFO, as well as penning Meat Loaf's minor hit "Midnight At The Lost And Found", before being asked to join Banzai. Ralph Hood (ex-Grand Prix on bass) and Michael Peyronel (drums) rounded out the band. A record deal with upstart Valentino/Atco practically fell into the band's lap, and they preceeded to work on their debut album. Upon release of the self-titled debut they hit the road opening for Twisted Sister in America, before headlining their own shows in Europe and South America. Lack of promotion started to create tension within the band and Dominguez left to be replaced by Lawrence Archer. However Dominguez returned shortly after, only to see Hood leave the band, thus making them a trio for their second and final album. By 1990 the band had dissolved, with both Danny Peyronel and Dominguez pursuing solo careers, as well as Danny being involved in a Heavy Metal Kids reunion. Read more on Last.fm.
