The 3rd Birthday was a visual kei band formed in mid 2011 in Nagoya, Japan. They disbanded in May 2016. The original lineup included Vo. L (ex-Amber Bullet), Gt. Yu-chi- (ex-SIX-R), Gt.フォリィ(folly) (ex-流離~るり~ → ABNORMAL VOLTAGE) and Ba.智也(tomoya) (ex-ABNORMAL VOLTAGE). In their 5 years of activity, they released 9 singles, 2 mini-albums and a coupling CD with TRIGGAH and カルディア (Cardia). Their first full album, which was announced for July 2015, remained unreleased. Their first releases were both live-limited: a self-titled single, which they started selling at their first live on June 21st 2011, followed by Stupid & Stupid(demo full chorus ver.), released on December 17th 2011. In 2012, the band released their first maxi-single, Endroll / 銃と薔薇とロザリオと…(Juu to Bara to Rosario to...), on January 27th, and a mini-album which came in 2 Types, on June 29th (TYPE A Your death caused my birth; TYPE B My death caused your birth). In August, the band went on a short activity pause, while Vo. L received treatment for health issues. In 2013, 2 new maxi-singles were released: Hades / 蛾裸(Gara) on October 2nd and GOD BLESS YOU / 獄中オーケストラ(Gokuchuu Orchestra) on November 7th. The band signed with Double River Records at the end of the year and announced a new maxi-single for June 4th 2014, 糜爛の月(Biran no Tsuki). Another maxi-single, 小生、ダレガタメニナク(Shousei Dare ga Tame ni Naku), was due for November 26th. But in November 2014, the members disclosed they had lost contact with Gt. folly and he was subsequently officially fired from the band one month later. On December 3rd, their coupling CD 東名阪暗黒友好条約(Tonasaka Ankoku Yuukoujouyaku) with bands TRIGGAH and カルディア (Cardia) was released. Then, just a few months later, Gt. Yu-chi also left, leaving the band as a 2-piece, along with their support drummer. Regardless, the band went on to release their last 2 singles: I am..., an Amber Bullet cover, on February 11th, and 罪状「グルトニー」(Zaijou「Gluttony」), on June 24th. They also participated in the omnibus album 妖幻鏡 -WEST- Vol.2 ~大阪・名古屋連合~(Yougenkyou -WEST- Vol.2 ~Osaka・Nagoya rengou~), released on August 5th. The band had planned to release their first full album in July, but had to postpone. More bad news followed, with the band announcing they will depart from Double River Records after relocating to Tokyo in spring 2015, where they would continue band activities underground. The band officially announced their disbandment after their live at Ikebukuro EDGE on May 22nd 2016. Vo. L and Gu. tomoya went on to form バラライカ (balalaika) in April 2016, along with former support members of The 3rd Birthday. Read more on Last.fm.
