There are at least two artists with this name. 1. The Cops are a post-punk band from Seattle, Washington that formed in late 2003 with Michael Jaworski on lead vocals and guitar, John Randolph on guitar and David Weeks on drums. Seattle label Mt. Fuji Records released their debut EP Why Kids Go Wrong in March of 2005, and followed up to release the critically acclaimed full-length Get Good or Stay Bad in November of 2005. Former Supersuckers and Hater bassist, Drew Church, replaced Brian Wall on bass in early 2006, just in time for a tour supporting Cursive and Jeremy Enigk. In the summer of 2007 the band recorded their second full-length record entitled Free Electricity. The album was recorded with the band’s spiritual godfather Kurt Bloch (The Fastbacks, Young Fresh Fellows) and mixed by producer Johnny Sangster (Mudhoney, Old Haunts, The Briefs). The Control Group and Mt. Fuji Records co-released Free Electricity on November 6th, 2007. The band has toured the US consistently, supporting the aforementioned Cursive & Jeremy Enigk as well as tours and shows with The Hold Steady, Constantines, The Kills, The Walkmen, Sebadoh and others. In spring of 2008, the band went on a temporary hiatus after touring in support of Free Electricity. In late 2010, The Cops reformed to play a show in Seattle and are currently working on a new record which should be released in early 2012. 2. An Australian band Formed in late 2003 by Simon Carter and Beck Darwon. In August 2004 they released their first self-titled EP. In September of that same year they released their debut album entitled 'Stomp On Tripwires'. In 2005 the band undertook numerous tours, with support slots for bands such as Dallas Crane and The Von Bondies and also received nominations for the 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best Bass Player' awards at the 2005 Jack Awards. The band released the EP '80 In The Shade' in November 2006. 'Call Me Anytime', from the EP, received significant airplay on numerous indie radio stations, and the video was played on MTV, Channel [V] and Rage. It also placed #33 on the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2006. In 2007 they released their sophomore album entitled "Drop It In Their Laps' on Inertia records, as well as embarking on a tour with Expatriate. In early 2008, founding member Beck Darwon left the band due to the fact that she no longer wished to tour. Rather than continue on, Simon Carter decided to put the band on indefinite hiatus and pursue a solo career. Read more on Last.fm.
