In 2010 Jon Matte overheard a story about a man getting fired by an old power company called Franklin Electric. After hearing the conversation, I laughed and said thats awesome, and has to be the name of the band” says the singer-writer of The Franklin Electric. Comprised of Jon Matte (vocals, piano and trumpet), Kevin Warren (drums), and Jean-Sebastien Leblanc (guitar), the Montreal-based trio is vocal oriented, well-versed in a variety of rock-folk genres, and inspired by ambient guitar textures and brass. On-stage the Franklin Electric has been compared to the likes of Radiohead and Coldplay, often breaking away from original songs into periods of intense emotional improvisation. As they are on stage, the Franklin Electric is focused on authentic studio sessions grounded in the ideas of honesty and integrity; even to-date the group boasts a form of purity that remains untouched by anyone but the team themselves. As for the front man of the group , Jon Matte has built his career on a resume of professionalism. He studied music at Vanier College, and shortly after built an immense roster of production credits working with popular Quebec artists such as Patrick Watson, Bran Van 3000, Bad News Brown, Jaffa and Jodie Ma Dualite Resther on Deja Musique. I enjoy crafying sounds and making them fit together like a puzzle, even styles of music that I wouldnt necessarily sing myself, says Matte. After years of working with some of Montreals most talented artists, Mattes decision to pursue his own dreams was only natural. Drummer Kevin Warren and guitarist Jean-Sebastien Leblanc jumped on-board after hearing Matte perform Old Piano, the groups upcoming single, and the team has grown ever since. Currently, theyve recruited platinum producer/engineer, Glen Robinson, to co-produce their self-titled debut set for release in the upcoming fall-winter season. Over the past year the Franklin Electric has been vigorously pumping life into their craft, playing in local clubs, while developing a repertoire of finely-tuned material and fans. With an album in production, the Franklin Electric is poised to make their mark on the national stage. With the help of manager Henry-Francois Gelot (E-Stunt Entertainment), the Franklin Electric has been given a profound boost. In 2011, the group is looking forward to the flourishing road to international stardom. Read more on Last.fm.
