The Horse Company is a four-piece alternative rockband from the town of Zwolle, The Netherlands, that existed from 2006 to 2013. Their rootsy, country-tinged style of rock has drawn comparisons to American bands such as Wilco[/artists], Sebadoh, Buffalo Tom, Dinosaur Jr., Centro-Matic and R.E.M.. Founded in 2006, the group released three full-length albums: The Horse Company (2007), Olympus (2009) and Calypso (2012). All albums received favourable reviews in the Dutch music press. All of The Horse Company's album were written and recorded by the original line-up: Arjen Hilberdink - vocals, guitar Vincent Hilberdink - guitar, vocals Arjan Pronk - bass Jeroen Holbert - drums The rhythm section, Pronk and Holbert, left the band in early 2013, followed by the group's decision (in August 2013) to call it a day.
