The release of Let It Roll, the tenth album of Holland's best-known bluesrockers The Juke Joints, coincides with the tenth anniversary of their ever-expanding fanclub. That calls for a party! No wonder that this latest release is a party album extraordinaire. As we have come to expect, the album is brimful of blues styles, incorporating Chicago blues, rock 'n' roll and rockabilly, all linked by the band's unmatched energy, which is driven to unprecedented heights by the festive character of the occasion. As usual frontman Peter Kempe has penned most of the songs: the well-chosen covers truly contribute to the generally exuberant atmosphere: how about Steve Earle's Steve's Last Ramble or Rory Gallagher's crowd-pleasing traditional Bullfrog Blues? The band´s status is underlined by the guest appearances of Holland´s best female blues singer, Barrelhouse´s Tineke Schoemaker, who is featured on Marcia Ball's rollicking Louella and Don Bryant's 99 Pounds, which Ann Peebles sang to fame, and two contributions by renowned Dutch slide-guitarist Marcel Scherpenzeel on the title track Let It Roll and the John Lee Hooker classic I'm In The Mood. When after 13 red-hot tracks the roof has come off, the band delivers a true after party in the three bonus tracks. Chilling out is virtually impossible, though, especially in their highly infectious remake of Rory Gallagher's Going To My Hometown, which is delivered here in Peter Kempe's regional dialect! These past 24 years The Juke Joints have captured audiences all over the world with their high-octane rock rollin' blues and the 13 tracks on this new album will undoubtedly confirm and even enhance that reputation. The Band: Peter Kempe - Lead Vocals/Drums/Mandolin/Acoustic Guitar Michel 'Boogie Mike' Staat - Guitar Sonny Boy van der Broek - Harmonica/Vocals/Accordion Peter van Merode - Bass Last year The Juke Joints celebrated their 20th anniversary with the release of the double album '20 Years', which included a live CD with special recordings featuring Mark Wenner (The Nighthawks) and Mississippi harmonica ace Willie Foster. To say that the band has been touring extensively is an understatement: next to frequent visits to England and especially Ireland, they are constantly gracing stages in Holland, France, Germany, Belgium, Latvia, Curacao and, of course, the USA. They were the first European band to play the prestigious Delta Blues Festival in Greenville with B.B. King, Dr John and Little Feat. Also they played B.B. King's club in Memphis. They have shared stages with the best that blues has to offer: Kim Wilson, Buddy Guy, Johnny Copeland, Little Charlie & the Nightcats, The Paladins, Walter Trout, Rod Piazza, The Nighthawks, Bernard Allison, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Sean Costello and Roomful of Blues.
