The New Grand is a Canadian indie rock band from London, Ontario, Canada. Known for their explosive live shows, they released two full-length albums on Sonic Unyon Records. Original members Michael "Good Burger" Clive, T. D. Smith, and Patrice Von Morgan met in high school in the early 1990s. They were joined by guitarist Malcolm "Little Slippers" Scott. Scott, part Cree, learned his instrument from his abusive alcoholic uncle. Their first album, The New Grand, appeared in 1996 and was met with rave reviews and modest sales. A whirlwind year of non-stop touring, industry shows in New York, Toronto, and Austin, and a cross-Canada tour with Treble Charger followed. The New Grand released their second album on Sonic Unyon in 1998 entitled Incognito. A stylistic change for the group, Incognito was an explosive, muddy mess, accompanied by rumours of decadence and spiralling drug abuse. News of Good Burger's recent conversion to Wicca splashed across Canadian newspapers in the autumn of 2005. Read more on Last.fm.
