There are two bands known as The Rileys: 1) A British indiepop band featuring members of Feverfew. 2) A British indie rock band with Joseph Fielder (23, vox), Dave Giles (23, guitar), bassist James Field (18) and drummer Martin Griffith (23). 1) After Feverfew split Vicky, Lloyd and Phil formed The Rileys. Paul and Keith decided to concentrate on Blueboy. The Rileys and Feverfew released the split The Happiness EP on A Turntable Friend Records as a tribute to former guitarist Jason Swadling who sadly passed away. In 1992 they released the Whirlygig 7" EP on Elefant Records. 2) Since winning the XFM Uploaded single of the week with their song "Jimmy Is A Lunatic" in April 2008, things have been going very well for indie rock band The Rileys. Their enthralling live performances have been stunning audiences in and around the south east of England, leading to a sell out headline gig at Bush Hall at the end of August. Their debut self-titled EP released in January has sold 800 copies to date and their first single Baby Blue was released in June. This powerful ode to miseducated youth (described in one review as a 'grand effort' which 'hits every target') received airplay on the BBC Radio Network, as well as local radio stations up and down the country. The next single, "Do You Feel Me" will be released in February 2009 and will be supported by a UK tour and launch gig at the Carling Islington Academy on February 18th. The songwriting power behind The Rileys unique sound comes from Joseph Fielder (23, vox) and Dave Giles (23, guitar), who met at their school induction day in 1996 and have been writing music pretty much ever since. The two Essex boys moved to West London to form The Rileys after both finishing University in the summer of 2007, completing the band's line up with bassist James Field (18) and drummer Martin Griffith (23). 2009 is set to be a big year for The Rileys: As Britain slumps towards a recession, The Rileys take to the country to get the nation dancing.
