The Shackeltons hail from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Members are Mark Redding (vocal), Eric Fisak (guitar), Justin Mcdaniel (bass), Sean Hallock (drums) and Ryan Egolf (guitar). The band is named after Ernest Shackleton, an explorer who famously attempted to cross Antarctica on foot in the early 1900s. Rolling Stone describes their sound as "a stout combination of clean, straight-lined production and cacophonous bursts of sound. Their blasts of angst, which are equal parts danceable bliss and searing noise, are held together by the jittery, literate lyrical musings of frontman Mark Redding." Their self-titled debut album was released in January 2008 by Loveless Records and they are an up and coming band to keep an eye on for the future. Spin Magazine hits the nail on the head with the description "scruffy, emotional indie boys you can actually believe in." Read more on Last.fm.
