Since the release of their acclaimed debut LP, Pop-Up Book, The Superfantastics have toured Eastern Canada steadily and sharing the stage with bands such as The Constantines, The Weakerthans, Julie Doiron, Shotgun Jimmie and Calm Down It's Monday and showcased at festivals such as CMW, NXNE and The Halifax Pop Explosion. The group was nominated for two Nova Scotia Music Awards for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album and an East Coast Music Award for Best Music Video. Starting as a weekly drum lesson, The Superfantastics quickly began to pen songs that earned the attention of their hometown of Halifax, NS in January of 2006. In the coming months, the band released their debut EP, Like Letters. A video for the album’s single “What Will You Do Now?” was featured on MuchMusic's The Wedge, Going Coastal and on Bravo TV. The band returned the following Spring with their acclaimed debut LP, Pop-Up Book. The lauded music video for "Tonight, Tonite," from the album, was featured on MuchMusic's The Wedge and Going Coastal. "Pop-Up Book could well be one of this year's best Canadian debuts."- Eye Weekly "Choose Your Destination is another example of a fine renaissance in Halifax pop led by intrepid bands like the Superfantastics."- Exclaim! “As far as art goes, nothing much could compare with 3D, but the music is just as much fun.” - Vue Weekly "Even if MacDonald and d’Entremont had nothing but a beaten-up acoustic guitar in their hands, their irresistible melodies are the main reason why they are considered to be one of the most anticipated Canadian acts of 2007." -Obscure Sound "Pop-Up Book Features some of the most honeyed, sentimental, coyly written pop tunes since Halifax's explosive Murderecords days glimmers of The Hollies, Turtles and The Beach Boys illuminate the album's sense of timelessness"- The Coast Order a copy of Pop-Up Book on CD or 12" Vinyl, or Choose Your Destination on 7" vinyl through www.thesuperfantastics.com myspace.com/thesuperfantastics www.thesuperfantastics.com Read more on Last.fm.
