Technical Death Metal Outfit From Virginia Beach Virginia. THE APHORIST was founded in Virginia Beach, Virginia in early 2008 under the name Amidst The Bloodshed. Founding member/guitarist Braulio Almeida recruited Mike Greene (Vox) Mike Cole (Drums) and Frank Corso (Guitar) to complete a lineup. After numerous try-outs on bass we decided to proceed with vigorous writing without a bassist. Several songs were completed then thrown away in attempts to not sound like your average band. After playing only a few shows guitarist Frank Corso left the band. Without a solid lineup The Aphorist held numerous try-outs for guitar. After scouring the seven five seven for talent without any luck, guitarist Braulio Almeida decided to reconstruct the songs to his own standards with the intent to play live as a three-piece without limitations. Several songs were scrapped, edited, and modified. The end result was the album "Premonitions" Shorty after, former guitarist Frank Corso rejoined The Aphorist. After learning all the new material, The Aphorist played shows steadily with big acts such as The Contortionist, Beneath The Massacre, Born of Osiris, Waking The Cadaver, etc. Fan base was growing fast, but The Aphorist had yet to hit the studio and record the songs they were playing live. It was time to record an E.P. After countless and tedious hours at Sniper Studios with Vince Burke, The Aphorist had completed their E.P "Premonitions" Premonitions consists of six songs that are epic in length with a running time of over thirty minutes. A year and a half of creating and re-creating music to find what best suits us. During the recording of "Premonitions" both vocalist and guitarist Mike Greene and Frank Corso decided to leave the band. Without being able to play live, "Premonitions" was very poorly promoted and sat on a hard drive. With insufficient funds there was never album art made for "Premonitions". The remaining members Braulio Almeida and Mike Cole decided to take this time to write new music. The new music evolved into a completely different sound as in attempt to make practice fun. The music was written with the intent of playing with one guitarist. The Aphorist had had their share of trying out bassists and guitarists in the seven five seven. The result was faster continuous riffs, no rhythm no chords. Just an endless sequence of riffs and a way heavier approach to breakdowns. At this point The Aphorist recruited former OTIS member Evan Hope to play guitar. Evan Hope was a huge help in the production of harmonies for the riffs and even lyrics for the songs. Shortly after former member and vocalist Mike Greene rejoined the band. At this point The Aphorist decided to get things back on track. We changed our band name from Amidst The Bloodshed to The Aphorist in mid 2010. "Premonitions" was officially released all over blogspots and the web for download with a cover we designed ourselves. The release of "Premonitions" was around the same time the new myspace launched on 5/17/2010. There was a new myspace made for The Aphorist, among countless other promotional accounts. We attempted to get our music everywhere, as we still did not have the money to get artwork made, nor print cd's, nor show ready. Right at the peak of showing Evan Hope all the new music he decided to leave the band. Refusing to quit, founding member Braulio Almeida, along with Mike Greene and Mike Cole decided it would be in our best interest to play as a three-piece. Currently we have all the material written for a new upcoming album. The album (_____) will be recorded at Sniper Studios starting in late January of 2011. The Aphorist is currently having cd art, myspace layout, a logo, and flash banners designed by Daniel McBride. Merch and others logo's is currently being designed by Consume The Flesh Media. Guitarist Braulio Almeida is currently located in Florida until the new years. The remaining members of The Aphorist still hold practice every week. With a recording of guitars for all the songs to a click track, they are able to practice in preparation for the studio sessions to come in January. The Aphorist is playing a show on September 24th in Virginia Beach, Virginia with Braulio Almeida traveling back for the show. This will more than likely be the only show of 2010 since Braulio Almeida is in Florida until January. Starting January The Aphorist hits the studio to record their brand new E.P that will consist of five completely different songs and different abstract lyrical content. We will soon after start relentlessly playing shows and promoting the new album as a three piece. Stay tuned for new updates. We have new everything coming soon! -The Aphorist Read more on Last.fm.
