Coventry based threesome with punk power pop effusive as early Supergrass, but with an outsider edge stemming from brothers Patch (guitar and lead vocals), & Raul Lagunas (bass), whose parents were political activists in General Pinochets’s Chile, living in exile in the UK since the ‘70’s. Joining them on drums & vocals is close friend Rachel Butt, the trio forming in the autumn of 2003, through a shared love of legends such as The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Buzzcocks and The Kinks, and of course the city of Coventry (check out the flip of ‘Loco’ by the way for their take on Cov heroes The Specials ‘Too Much Too Young’). Indeed the lyrics and astonishing energy of The Ripps is fuelled, in part, by their own love/ hate relationship with their hometown. Read more on Last.fm.
