In all likelihood, you've probably never before encountered a band like Aussie outfit Theatre of Disco (also affectionately known as TOD). Their music is a funkadelic collide-o-scope of drama & pitch, prone to instantaneous (and electrifying) transfiguration. These guys ride the fence enthusiastically, refusing to be pigeonholed into any one specific musical genre (hence allowing for unbridled creativity). TOD masterfully weaves/samples vocal dubs into audible melodies, then strews them over a frisky neuro-electronic backdrop. And what an amazing bassline! The lyrics are probably seized in a 'stream-of-consciousness', covering topics as diverse as STDs, day jobs, actor/writer/comedian Lawrence "Larry" David, and even monkeys who have sex for pleasure.
