Threats started of life in 1977 as the Reflectors. Just 4 local lads from Dalkeith in Midlothian Scotland who had a collective interest in Music.. Jim and Gogsy were next door neighbours from when they were born and grew up together. Early memories were a great interest in all things guitar based. The bands that they grew up with were the glam bands of the 1970's. It was all based on rock n' roll with bags o' fun thrown in for good measure. (That rings a bell). Slade, T-Rex, Sweet, Mud, you get the picture. Then there was an almighty bang in 1977. Enter PUNK ROCK. The appeal was instant and immediately the need to play music was stronger than ever. After a few gigs round and about Edinburgh the band were signed by Playlist Records Gigs with Exploited and tour with Anti Pasti led to the band being signed with Rondelet Records The first release for Rondelet Records was the Go to Hell EP. (1981). The success of the EP resulted in the band playing with UK Subs, Dead Kennedys, Anti-Nowhere League and Chelsea. By this time Threats were firmly part of the UK Punk establishment and were touring in their own right. In 1982 Threats were again back in the studio recording the 6 track EP Politicians and Ministers. By this time the song writing had improved and songs had evolved a definite Threats style. By 1983, the UK punk scene was dying and the Threats decided to take a rest. Threats played a few gigs on and off over the years, but it wasnt until 1999 that they decided to put it back together again properly. The resulting release was a 3 track Smash EP Back in Hell on Intimidation Records. Threats were then invited to perform at the Punk Extravaganza Holidays in the Sun Festival and have played the festival every year since then with the exception of 2003. Threats were invited to tour USA and in 2002 toured the east coast of America to rave reviews. (There's life in the old dog yet!). Due to the success of the 2002 tour, Threats were approached by Doctor Strange records from California and recorded the 12 Punk Moves album. This was followed by another USA tour in 2003 which included 3 dates on the west coast. The bands credibility was now firmly nailed in the USA. Doctor Strange were so taken with the band that they needed any and all recording of Threats in order to satisfy the new demand. During the 2002 tour Threats were recorded live at the legendary CBGB's in NYC. The mayhem that night resulted in an unforgettable experience. Both audio and video of the gig was recorded, and the Doctor strange release was a 12" Red Vinyl limited edition (1000 Copies) of the gig. A DVD of that night will soon be available along with other footage of Threats through the years. Demos and Rarities speaks for itself. A Doctor Strange release which contains all the recorded works of Threats 1979-83. The album contains a personnel timeline of threats over the years. CHECK IT OUT!. 2007 saw the Release of God is Not with us Today (Dr Strange Records). This album was written by the band and this time had no need to get the tail end of the 1980's out of their system. A definite progression from 12 Punk Moves. Just as life moves on so does Threats but at the same time remaining true to their roots. Read more on Last.fm.
