“Let’s run away again, just like we did when we were 10” When I grew up, pop stars were like super heroes. Michael Jackson was Batman. Madonna was Cat Woman. Mick Jagger was the Incredible Hulk. The Beatles were an old comic about Turtles from the ‘60’s. Unreal. Immortal. Larger than life. I loved my super heroes. Through rock poses, leather jackets, blood, sweat and tours with Sugarplum Fairy, I’ve always harboured the idea of one day creating my own super hero. I wanted to step outside myself. Become someone else. Ever since I was ten years old, I’ve had a dream of becoming Viktorious. I’ve missed my super heroes. They’ve become all too real. I don’t want to know what they’re doing on Twitter and their blogs. I don’t want to be able to touch them. I don’t want anyone to tell me my heroes are just like you and me. They should be more than you and I. That’s why they’re my heroes. Opposite to what many believe, I’ve always loved modern pop music. When I’ve been at clubs around the world, it’s always been that music that makes me dance. More than Rolling Stones and the Beatles. I wanted to achieve the same feeling with my own music. Two years ago I started working with Viktorious. I wanted to challenge myself, so I threw out the guitar and used the computer as my only instrument. It opened a whole new world for me. I started travelling the world working with producers I loved. Instead of sitting at home, doodling on my guitar, I threw myself right out there. When I arrived at the studio in the morning, I knew we’d have a finished song by the evening. No long rehearsals, no demos. Just straight and direct pop music. Here and now. Video Killed The Radio Star by the Buggles was the first song played on MTV. Internet Killed The Pop Star ought to have been the first song uploaded on Youtube. But there is hope. Lady Gaga is hope. Zlatan is hope. The 2010:s are hope. “I am Hope” was the first song I wrote for Viktorious. Read more on Last.fm.
