The Wigsville Spliffs played authentic 50's Rockabilly back in the early 1980's. Formed by 3 friends from sleepy Suffolk, England. Ian Aitken (Vocals/Guitar) Mike Lister (Slap Bass) Danny Mowl (Drums) Initially the boys set out to tear up the local rockin scene. They became more well known when they started to appear regularly on the bill at the world famous Klub Foot in Londons Hammersmith. Regularly providing the support for other bands such as Restless, The Guanabatz and Frenzy. A change of style to a more Neo-Rockabilly sound resulted from these shows. The band had appeared on many different compilation LP's but had actually stopped performing when they were approached to release this album. This in part accounts for the many different recording styles you will hear as the tracks were compiled from various sessions spanning the bands career. They include believe it or not a track recorded live on a small hand held tape recorder. Ian went on to front The Bus Stop Boys and now fronts Juke Joint Jump a six piece Jump & Jive band. Mike & Danny no longer perform. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
