Yossi Piamenta is a U.S.-based Israeli guitarist. After finishing boarding school, Piamenta joined a Top-40 cover band as their lead guitarist. Then he joined the army, and played in the Army Band. After completing his army service, he became a full-time musician. During the Yom Kippur War Piamenta, together with his fifteen-year old brother Avi, now an international acclaimed flautist, played for the soldiers. After that, the two brothers formed The Piamenta Band, which went on to play with the most prestigious Israeli musicians. As a young secular Israeli prog-rock electric-guitar player, Piamenta was taken to the United States by saxophonist Stan Getz in 1976 to record some of his original music, after a chance meeting in Jerusalem. The resulting album was so successful that Getz tried hard but failedto sign a lifetime contract with the Piamentas. Instead the brothers settle in Brooklyn, New York, focussing The Piamenta Band’s energies towards to a traditional Jewish audience. * Official site Read more on Last.fm.
