Brooklyn-based hip-hop duo Dead Prez has teamed up with producer DJ Green Lantern for "Pulse of the People," the third installment of the Dead Prez's mixtape series, "Turn Off the Radio." The new release is said to have been finished over a three-day period, with guest spots from Styles P and Chuck D, among others. The album expresses political, social and environmental awareness, but remains as characteristically gritty and militant as fans should expect. DJ Green Lantern provides an uncompromising pulse that successfully supports Dead Prez's honest lyrics. Hard-hitting "Gangsta, Gangster" highlights the philosophy behind the track's title, while "Afrika Hot!" features a chorus spoken in Arabic and Swahili about freedom. Guest emcee Johnny Polygon appears on hometown tribute "NYDP," and Chuck D's swagger surpasses expectation on "Refuse To Lose." Read more on Last.fm.
