Mamerico, a finest quality “utatane yuruyuru (a doze with leisurely atmosphere)” unit is formed with two artists, maya (composer, guitar, vocal) and kazuma yano (lyrics, design, produce). Based in the Kansai district, Japan. The debut album “minuscule” produced by Swedish singer-songwriter Johan Christher Schütz, brings back a peaceful subtle nostalgic feelings on the daily life in Europe, Japan, or across the border. The music is born from maya’s humming, and yano puts on colours with lyrics. Then “sound and words” be returned to maya again. Mamerico’s piece of music is created in this way, and these will be completed with the transparent and ethereal sound of the calm acoustic world, the jazz basis blended carefully with the essence of Brazilian & Latin music. “Waltz for hulot”, a waltz with freckled Girly words, is a tribute song to Jacques Tati (a French film director and comedian), which shows a cute and unique expression as if having a vacation in Paris. “Okiniiri” has the refreshing rhythm of Latin percussions. Jazzy piano weaves in “Snowdrop”. The acoustic plucking in bossa style sounds comfortably on “a border”. “Tricolor” and “natsu no stole” has the impressive melody as clear as water. Every song has the organic sound with simple arrangements, and maya’s swaying voice carries in with gentleness. Their sound features some coolness of Latin Jazz, adding the flavour with the fragrance of Japanese simplicity. The album is filled with the mood of “European siesta and Japanese weekend”, a mamerico’s sound style. The title was named “minuscule” meaning [A lowercase letter; Very small; tiny]. As if a tiny spoon skimming the empty space from our daily life cycle lightly, and the small bits of sweet colours and scents are gathered to create a piece of work. Softly, lies here.
