For the artist who wrote the Wristcutters; A Love Story soundtrack - Bobby Johnston Bobby Johnson's singing and stage presentation is a reminder of artists such as Otis Redding, James Brown & Joe Tex. Of Jamaican origin, he immigrated to London during the early 60's. After a few years he formed a rhythm & blues band namely "Bobby Johnson & The Atoms", playing regurlarly at the famous Marquee, Flamingo & Whisky A Gogo clubs in central London and parts of nothern England. He and his band also had the opportunity to perform with international artist's such as: Eric Burdon & The Animals, Georgie Fame & The Blues Flames, Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band, and Ike & Tina Turner on various concert programmes. They also recorded an album and a hit single for Ember Records entitled " Tramp/ Do it again a little bit slower", which was a major success on the English and continental markets. The band moved on to Italy in the mid 70's, during which period they toured all the major cities, and was a featured attraction on several open air concerts which featured artist's such as: Al Bano, Gianni Morandi, Massimo Raineri, Peppino di capri, I Pooh and Loredana Berti &Rocky Roberts. Bobby Johnson also appeared on several TV and radio programmes during his stay in Italy. Living and working in Switzerland since 1973, he has performed with several local band's on club, television and radio dates such as : TOXIC, CROSSROADS (@ the Montreux Jazz Festival), TURNING POINT, CORNER STONE BAND and many more... In previous editions (2002-2004) of the Italian Soul Festivals which is held annually in Porretta Terme (Bologna) and also the Narni Black Festival, he has been called on to appear as the opening act for Solomon Burke, Wilson Pickett, Ann Peebles, Millie Jackson, Carla Thomas, Clarence Carter and others.
