Brock Zanrosso was the first runner-up of the widely popular YTV show, The Next Star, a televised singing competition like Canadian Idol but for teens under 15 years of age. Born in Vancouver on May 24, 1994, Brock is the youngest of four children. He has two sisters and an older brother. As a child, he was actively involved in sports and played both hockey and soccer. Brock eventually discovered his true passion was expressing himself as an artist. He began taking minor roles in small theatre productions and school plays, honing his acting skills and building his stage presence. He also began pursuing roles in television and film productions, frequently auditioning for parts. In May 2009, Brock successfully auditioned for Season 2 of YTV's The Next Star and was quickly catapulted into the spotlight, exposing his raw talent to millions and attracting a broad and loyal fanbase. During the show, Brock worked on a song called One More First Chancewith pop singer Shawn Desman, which he performed at the finale. Brock was first runner-up on the show and has been steadily building a promising career ever since. Brock was named BC Artist of the Week by 93.5 Virgin Radio and made it onto Richmond Review's Top 30 under 30. He opened for Juno-nominated singer Suzie McNeil in May 2010 for her CD release show in Vancouver. He continues to attend Richmond's Cambie Secondary and has maintained his position as an honour student even with his increasingly busy schedule. In January 2010, Brock released his first single, Push the Walls-a fun, upbeat, party track produced by HipJoint Music. Hipjoint Music, responsible for producing hits for Canadian pop stars Shiloh and Kreesha Turner, approached Brock after The Next Star Season 2 ended. Push the Walls is currently on rotation at radio stations across Canada. Brock's second single, Edge (End of the World) was released on June 1st. Read more on Last.fm.
