There are at least 3 bands with the name Claws. 1) CLAWS is an alt-pop duo comprised of sultry siren Amber Renee and four-time Grammy winning producer & multi-instrumentalist Graham Marsh. After a decade of working at the highest levels of the music industry with stars like Cee Lo Green, Bruno Mars, and T.I., Marsh became disillusioned with the pop music world. At the height of his commercial success in 2012, he quit his job as Cee Lo Green’s right-hand man to pursue a music career that would fulfill him creatively. As if by a greater design, he soon met Amber, a grad school dropout moonlighting as an alt-pop singer at Atlanta venues like Eddie’s Attic and Smith’s Olde Bar. The pair began writing together in the Summer of 2013 and realized that this was the collaboration they had each been searching for. CLAWS completed their debut album Feel It All one year later, which includes the talents of several Atlanta legends, including Preston Crump (Outkast, Goodie Mob), Keisha Jackson (Outkast), Kennard Garrett (Case), and Slick Barnes (India Arie, David Anthony). Feel It All explores the difficulties of embodiment, the oscillation of existence, and the hurt of loving someone you can’t be with. Despite the heavy subject matter, Marsh’s lush, bombastic sonic landscapes create a playground for Amber’s crooning melodies. With influences ranging from Broken Bells to Outkast to Lady Gaga, CLAWS has been hailed by Culture Collide as the new pop sound of the South. Hypem index Yaqui describes CLAWS as "possessing the edge of the Black Keys with the accessibility of Purity Ring and the magnetic force of The xx." Fans have coined the term ATL-pop to describe CLAWS’ distinctive sound, a homegrown spin on the oft-used “alt-pop” genre. Since forming in 2013, the duo has performed at 500 Songs for Kids, Ladyfest, Aisle 5 & the EARL, among others. CLAWS’ music has also been featured on Largehearted Boy, Anti-Robot Radio and Jam In the Van. 2) Claws started in early August of 2008 when Lasse wanted to start a Death Metal band highly influenced by the cult Swedish death metal band Crematory from the early 90's, as well as other rotting and cryptic sounding bands such as Derketa, Nihilist, and Incantation. This style of death metal is very rare today and Lasse felt he could have fun writing some very raw, heavy, and utterly haunting songs in this way! He called upon his ravenous friend of all things horror Billy Nocera to help him write some lyrics and together they both came up with the name CLAWS and a theme of decaying terror, cobwebbed mausoleums, shambling zombies, demonic ghosts, forgotten cemeteries, rampaging blood-thirsty monsters, and morbid creatures that are not of this Earth! 3) A four-piece indie rock band from Norwich, England, formed in 2013.
