David Hickey

Based in Mount Hope, Ontario, David performs with Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, over 20. Each produces a pure note or tone, the purest there is. You have to hear them to believe it. He plays them in combination with 8-10 Paiste Planet, Symphonic and Sound Creation Gongs, Vibraphone and Santoor. Every gong features a strong fundamental note tuned to represent a natural harmonic series based on the orbital properties of the Sun, the Earth, the Moon and the other planets. "It's like having a full orchestra." comments David. He also performs with other beautiful organic instruments that add the finishing touches to an amazing performance. The past seven years have seen him touring Canada coast to coast performing over 700 shows and releasing 7 CD's. David has played the Bowls and Gongs accompanied by various musicians as well as with the Winnipeg Chamber Orchestra June 2006. Crystal Journey has dedicated it’s intention for the music to help raise awareness to our environment and such social causes as Tibet and Burma, raising funds for these and various other charities. 2008 promises to be the biggest year yet for Crystal Journey with over 30 perfomances planned in the United States including a presentation at the Globe Sound Healing Conference in San Francisco, and the Global Sound Conference in Los Angeles, California. The intent of the performance is to create soothing, meditative and healing music. Each one of the performances are completely improvised and unique. The music attracts a full range of listeners. Concerts are in two sets, each lasting about an hour. David cites his musical inspirations as, Jerry Garcia, The Grateful Dead, John Lennon, George Harrison, Bob Marley, and Frederick Chopin.
