Elcka were a british rock band, active during the 1990's. Their line-up comprised Harrold (vocals), Marcus-Sanford Casey (guitar), Rhodes (bass), Matt Barker (keyboards) and Darren Berry (drums). Their sound is losely influenced by the iconic, Brit-centric lineage of Art-School rock. Their first (and, for some time, considered only) album, Rubbernecking, was released in 1997. It generated three singles - Look At You Now, Supercharged and Nothing to Lose. The band also released a number of EP's (including: Boho Bird; Leather Lips and Games We Play). The band toured this album extensively - including as sole support across the USA, Europe and Scandinavia for Morrissey on his 'Maladjusted' tour. It was rumoured that there was a second album, but for over a decade it remained just that: a rumour. In fact there was and is. Provisionally titled 'Softly, Softly, Catchy Monkey' - it was never given an official release as it was, unfortunately, caught in the crossfire of the Universal Records' buy-out of Island Records. But a clutch of intimate public airings/listening parties saw the invited critics and fans hailing the 11 tracks as a masterpiece. It was a huge leap onwards from the Britpop swagger of Rubbernecking and had seen the band working with a range of producers including Dance supremos Ashley Beedle and The Boilerhouse Boys. A 1st single had been pencilled - Pleasure, a video directed by Tony Van Den Ende was shot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz_t5CsJc8c) and, at the time, it looked set to be the band's breakout hit, having been B-listed by Radio 1 and secured the band's first TOTP appearance to promote it further. It was at this crucial point that Universal's accountants (having just purchased Island Records) decided to drop Elcka, without releasing the 2nd album (Now working titled 'Again') AND refusing to let the band take it elsewhere. This unreleased instant classic album sat gathering dust in Island Record's vaults for OVER A DECADE - Until….. 2014 - Finally, the first wave of tracks from the album are seeing the light of day, having been repackaged and remastered by hip NYC label 'Kill Art Movement'. Sept 2014 saw the release of what will be a series of EP's - titled 'Again', it contains the tracks: 1 - Don't Disappear 2 - New Technology 3 - Banjo Prayer 4 - Baby's On Fire Coming soon…..
