Elizabeth Lillian Marvelly, born July 5, 1989, is a young soprano from Rotorua, New Zealand. Marvelly was a scholarship student at King's College, Auckland in 2007. Debut Album Her debut album was released on 3 December 2007 in New Zealand, and on 31 March 2008 in Australia. The self-titled pop-classical album was produced by Carl Doy. In its first week in the New Zealand charts [1] the album went to number 8 after going gold in five days. On the album Marvelly sings songs taken from a range of different genres and includes two original pieces. Her song 'When You Are Sad' was reportedly written after a recent case of child abuse in her hometown shocked the nation.[2] The recording of Marvelly's follow-up album with UK-based producer Nick Patrick has been completed. The record, 'Home', is available in Europe as merchandise on tour with Paul Potts, and is to be released in Australasia in late 2009 or early 2010. Live performances Tours of New Zealand In 2006, Marvelly was part of the 'A Knight with a Dame' tour with Sir Howard Morrison and Dame Malvina Major[3]. In 2007 she was the guest artist for Tim Beveridge's tour of the North Island. In February 2009, Marvelly toured New Zealand again as the special guest of Amici Forever star Geoff Sewell. In 2007 Marvelly appeared at a charity gala organized by Michelle Ong during the premiere of The Golden Compass in Hong Kong on December 16, 2007 with an audience of multiple Hollywood stars. Later that month she appeared in Sydney's Carols in the Domain. In July, 2008, Marvelly sang at the Beijing opening of Air New Zealand's inaugural Auckland-Beijing flight. Later, in August, Marvelly also made an appearance in Kuala Lumpur for the Malaysia New Zealand Business Council. Awards In late 2007, Marvelly won the New Zealand Variety Artists Club's Rising Star Award. Read more on Last.fm.
