Geïst is an atmospheric black metal band formed in Bielefeld, Germany in 2005. So far they've created three full-lengths, Patina (2005), Kainsmal (2006) & Galeere (2009). Their style is partly similar to the old black metal bands, some of their intros for example show similarities to old Ulver. Geïst is influenced by many bands; they just picked out the best parts and put them together to their own interpretation of black metal, which is not very innovative but no cheap copy either. It's very melodic but it will also make you want to bang your head, especially because of the drumming in their second album Kainsmal. Threatened with lawsuits by Cologne-based alternative rock band Geist, they changed their name to Eïs in March 2010. Read more on Last.fm.
