www.guyb.biz Guy B. was born in Israel to parents of Moroccan descent; at the tender age of 3, he immigrated to America. His last name Baruch means BLESSED in Hebrew. Guy spent his childhood growing up in North Hollywood, Ca., a city populated by nearly every race, creed, color and religion. In addition, his Jewish upbringing and strong family traditions allowed for a truly unique and diverse perspective on life and people. His interest in music was first sparked by hearing the greatest voices and songwriters of his generation, including Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Prince, Ben Harper, Nikka Costa, Mariah Carey and India Ari. With a desire to make people feel the way these amazing musicians made him feel when he heard them, Guy has created his own unique style, affected and inspired by soul music but also a global sound featuring pop elements mixed with R & B and hip-hop. Guy’s early experiences in music led him to participate in a few bands in high school, and following graduation, performed in New York. In 2001 Guy returned to Los Angeles and was approached to be the lead signer in a group called Evolution. The band reflected the diversity he appreciated while growing up in North Hollywood – the bandmembers were African-American, Asian, and Caucasian – Guy was proud to be a part of a group that represented his strong belief in the celebration of diversity. The band’s sound was also perfectly blended, with rich, dynamic harmonies. Writers, arrangers, and producers of their own material, Evolution began performing at Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors basketball games before embarking on a nine-month tour of Japan, where they had a permanent gig at Universal Studios in Osaka, playing five sold-out shows, five days a week. Upon returning from Japan in 2004, the bandmembers decided that Evolution had reached an end. As he settled back into life in Los Angeles, Guy built the recording studio he had long envisioned and committed himself to writing songs and conceptualizing a solo album that would express his life experience. Determined to create a record that represented his individuality and genuine thoughts, feeling and emotions, Guy began writing and recording an independent record that was honest and sincerely represented his life experiences. In his solo debut record, Guy captures and celebrates the struggles, joys, love, loss, fear, and sexual expression of the human condition. That album, “Within Me,” has now come to fruition.
