There are multiple artists with this name: 1) Julianne is a Filipino singer. The Philippines' music industry received a blessing when in 2007 singer/songwriter Julianne surfaced on the scene. Despite the rise of local bands and artists, she provided a breath of fresh air to the industry. She certainly got people listening when she first released her album titled "Grateful" that year. The debut album exhibited Julianne's astounding voice and gift in songwriting. Her talents definitely did not go unnoticed. The following year, 2008, she was nominated for 7 Awit Awards, the Philippines' most prestigious music awards. She was a nominee for Best Jazz Recording and Song of the Year, among others. In that same event, she took home the awards for Best Female Artist and Best New Female Artist. Amongst the many potential Asian singers, Julianne was truly exceptional, as she was chosen by Disney to render the Asian version of "This is Me" from the original soundtrack of the hit movie "Camp Rock". A true musician definitely knows how to pack a performance, and Julianne is the kind of musician that embodies what live performances are about. Undeniably a world class act, Julianne has performed across a variety of music festivals around South East Asia, such as Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore's Mosaic Festival. Julianne's sound can be described as a hybrid of acoustic pop, folk, jazz, and soul. The infusion of these various music genres highlights the breadth of her musical influences. Among some of these influences she includes India Arie, Incognito, Jill Scott, the Beatles, and James Taylor. She began her musical life in Sydney, Australia, where she studied piano and played keyboards with several different bands, as well as working as a composer on various dance, video, television, and small film projects. In a search to find her own sound as well as live closer to nature she spent a number of years living in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney where, inspired by her surroundings, she eventually recorded and released "Tales of the Heart", a solo album of ambient piano music. Eventually, her musical path led her her current base, Tokyo, Japan, where she performs live, sings on studio sessions, composes, writes lyrics, (see Tokyo Resume below), and paints in her spare time. Her album "Timeless", released in 2005, took several years to complete. It was recorded at Troy Horse in Sydney with co-production and co-arrangement by Peter Kennard. Overdubbing was completed in Tokyo at Stephen McKnight's Thermal Studios, Andy Bevan's Ahatanada Studios and Akira Inoue's Pablo Workshop. The album was mixed in England by Stuart Bruce at Real World's Millside Studio and mastered by Yuka Koizumi at Orange in Tokyo. The music could be loosely termed as pop with a strong World flavor. She has performed in England (including WOMAD 2009 at Charleton Park), Canada, Russia's Far East (as part of the Unity and Diversity Music Festival/Tour, which included cities such as Vladivostok, Khaborovsk, Komsemolsk), Sydney's famed Manly Jazz Festival, (the largest jazz festival in the southern hemisphere); has toured around Japan as part of the Australian Government's Celebrate Australia Japan-wide festival promotions, and performed on behalf of Australia at the Asian Pacific Film Festival (Fukuoka). She won the Australian Songwriters Association awards for Best Traditional Song (Song of the Land) and Finalist, Acoustic Category (And I Love to Say Goodbye). "One Aching Kiss" is her first full-length CD, but she hopes to produce several others in the coming years. She describes her goal in her musical career in the following manner: "to touch as many people with my music as I can." Her music is filled with strong emotions and powerful thoughts. Listening to it is like wrapping yourself in a dreamworld where fantasy and reality overlap for just a brief moment. It will capture you and won't let go. Read more on Last.fm.
