Kenze Neke are an influential Sardinian rock band. They sang in Sardinian and were politically committed to Sardinian independence from Italy. Musically, their major influences were from bands like The Clash and Anthrax, but they were also inspired by Sardinian traditional music. They never signed a deal with any label, keeping their independence in managing and producing their music. They had a devoted following in Sardinia and in some left-wing circles in mainland Italy, gained thanks to their concerts that often lasted up to 3 consecutive hours. They often liaisoned and collaborated with other groups with similar political views, for example Negu Gorriak from the Basque Countries, or groups from Corsica. Although Kenze Neke decided to split in 2002, they reunited in 2006 for a concert in Sardinia, which has been recorded and issued as a double CD and DVD, and have also played together on further occasions. For example they played in Berlin in 2007 during a gathering to protest against the G-8 meeting. They also reinstated their web page (www.kenzeneke.com) where is possible to purchase their works and find more news regarding future concerts. Former members of Kenze Neke keep making music, and Enzo Saporito, founder, voice and guitar of the band, often plays with fellow Sardinian band Askra under the brand name "KNA" (for Kenze Neke & Askra) Read more on Last.fm.
