Konsonans Retro (Консонанс - ретро) is a Ukrainian brass band, made up largely of a family from a village in Western Ukraine, on the Moldovan border: the brothers Baranovsky and their in-laws. They specialise in the traditional wedding music of the region -- a blend of Moldovan, Jewish, and Ukrainian melodies. They also perform choral pieces. In 2006, the Baranovskys and Voronyuks teamed up with klezmer clarinettist Christian Dawid and British rhythm-machine Guy Schalom. They premiered their first joint programme at the Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow, for some 10,000 listeners, and have played at festivals in Toronto, Montreal, Berlin, Helsinki, Vienna, Antwerpen, Odessa, Zurich and many other places. * http://kodyma.od.ua/articles.php?article_id=111 Read more on Last.fm.
