Born in New Zealand, Listen Lisse now lives in London. Country girl turned city girl Listen Lisse has released 3 albums of darkly crooning intensity in songs that share their heritage both with folk and punk. Listen Lisse played her first gig in London in 2004 and continues to play as a one woman band or with a drummer and has a set up using loops, guitar and sometimes a stomp box. Listen Lisse has released 3 albums. Sunset Over Cairo was recorded live at Cowshed Studios onto tape and released digitally in 2011. Pow Bang the second album was released in 2009. Her first album It's Not You was recorded in Hackney, London in a home recording studio. Band members have also included Eddie Darko (DND) who played live with Listen Lisse during 2006-2008 and played guitar on various songs on Pow Bang. In 2010 Lisse released an independently made video for the song "Raise Me" which was filmed in locations that are of personal significance to the writer. The video is an anti-mainstream music video which suggests a parody of extremely high budget music videos with little substance. Some gigs have included playing Sunrise Festival 2011 on 3 solar powered stages. Opening for Richard Swift (Secretly Canadian) at a Rough Trade night at the Enterprise in Chalk Farm. Then in Berlin Listen Lisse supported The Meanwhiles as part of their European tour. "Wake me up When Xmas is Over" is an Anti-Xmas song released with label Filthy Little Angels as part of a compilation - Tis the Season to Be Filthy . And then on the compilation "Oh Come, All Ye Filthy (Now, That's What We Call The Best Filthy Little Angels Christmas Album In The World Ever: Volume 5½)" Cover songs that Listen Lisse have recorded are Pass This On - The Knife a haunting acoustic version of the original electronic version and Devil Inside - INXS a minimal version of the pop song.
