Mario Borrelli, an Italian in Switzerland or a Swiss-Italian that lives between countries, he is much more than that. His life starts in Switzerland, where he was born, and so does his musical career. A talented musician, his Italian origins help him hone his talent in a big way, or the other way around. An innate taste for music, musical studies, and a deep-rooted sense of sound and rhythm bring him to be what he is today. His recording career starts in Lucerne with Carlo Schöb, the sax player. It is during this time that Mario realizes his first cut at the Soundville Studio. Following this is a collaboration with producers Urs Stäbler and Egon Eggler that brings about the piece i ragazzi di roma. Post this hit he continues taking part in local music festivals interpreting both renowned Italian pieces and writing his own refreshing compositions. Gaining success in Switzerland he forays into the Italian music scene – after all he is Italian on his father’s side and by vocation. In his tryst with the Italian music world he has close, intriguing meetings and collaborations with stalwarts like Mario Zannini Quirini, who in turn were very much taken by his talent and performing abilities. Consequently a collaboration with Lead Studios in Rome falls in Mario’s lap where he composes, sings, records and works on his music, and many other collaborative efforts. In 1998 Mario changes label and starts recording for a well-known one, producing a hit CD – Mario Borrelli. It is during this period that he is drawn back to the Swiss circuit because of family events. Suddenly, he also becomes more involved with the family business, which is far removed from the music scene. In the year 2002 he joins new Ton Musicmanagement GmbH whose producer believes in Mario’s talent and compositions. Immediately after this, Giovanni Boscariol of Bar Italia Studio (Mestre/VE) takes over as his musical producer and with/for him Mario records his new work at the Bluevelvet Studio in Modena. Mario’s music is very contemporary and captivating, but it is also deeply rooted in traditional instrumentation and history; thus he leaves alone computer-modified sounds, as much as possible. His choice of Vintage for his recordings is not casual. The music he composes and performs, full of charm and melos, leaves an imprint on the listener. Mario’s choice of chords and musical phraseology carry the audience on the wings of emotion and let them experience the beauty and depth of life as a musical garden. Read more on Last.fm.
