Mechanical Bride is Lauren Doss, a Brighton, United Kingdom based singer-songwriter. Her label Transgressive Records had this to say of her in their ‘Tips For 2007’ list: “We've never heard distant and lonely folk music quite this forceful and bracing... ambient, hypnotic, and sumptuous singing to boot - downbeat, occasionally hopeful, always beautiful... and she's only 20.” She has also been compared to Björk. As well as releasing the fantastic In the Throes (consisting of the songs Chapel, Poor Boy and Love Is Lost), she has also dueted with Larrikin Love on their forthcoming single Well, Love Does Furnish A Life (or A Day In the Life) and performs live with Jeremy Warmsley, who describes her as “a lovely, talented lady”, on a regular basis. Her latest ep is called Black Skeleton Sea, released in July of 2008. http://www.myspace.com/mechanicalbride Read more on Last.fm.
