It's hard to replicate an upbringing in the heart of the south. Richmond Virginia, a city where the streets throb with grit and the infrastructure is well aged, if not boasting of having character in a world more and more prepackaged and artificial. It is from these environs that Memory Fade has emerged out of struggle and hardship to release their first full-length album, 2009's Year of the Storms. Produced by Frank Marchand of Waterford Digital Inc. (Nothingface, Bob Mould, The Shins, Jimmie's Chicken Shack), Year of the Storms is an affair that channels the ferocity of the band's Richmond upbringing with melodic sensibilities uncharacteristic of the punk town. Exceeding the confines of today’s average post-grunge, Memory Fade combines the confessional vocals of Josh Green with the guitar playing of Mike Bottoms. Combined with the strength of the bands rhythm section, drummer Zane Chen and bassist J.C Ritchie, Year of the Storms is an album that employs a refined approach on melodic hard rock, maintaining a tasteful balance between harmonious beauty and raw attack.
