MIKEWHITEPRESENTS were formed by dance music affficionadoes Mikeyboy and DJ Danny after they met while working for the same TV production company in London, UK. Upon discovering a shared passion for the music of BT and Tiesto, and for the afterhour joys of drunken Karaoke, they decided to create a platform for creating Ambient, experimental, cinematic, theatrical, melodramatic house music/pop music that was closer to Movie soundtrack music than to traditonal bangin' club tunes. They christened the musical project MWP and began creating full Progressive House music that gave them the time and scope to play with ideas and structures, while also trying in desperation to teach themselves the basics of very simple, cheap software. Early tunes were constructed using every variation of kit from ejay to demo versions of Cubase VST, Fruity Loops and many others, before they settled on Reason as their principal writing tool. Early tunes like "Calling Fassbinder" and "The Rising" (available on the debut release "Demonstration5" (MWP/CD/D001) were well recieved, and played at DJ gigs and house parties alike, but a desire to expand the sound and write songs that moved away from the constrains of house music led to the involvement of top London singer/songwriter Michaela Betts who introduced an inspiring vocal and soul element. Bringing in top dance producers Griff and old skool Hausemeister DJ Kenty began to cement the MWP sound, and with a stronger acoustic edge melting in to the mixes, songs like "Straight Roads" and "Miss U Bad" were blessed with the trademark "Griffunk" sound. Today, MWP have racked up close to 50 original songs, and armed with their trusty laptops and cheap mics, they continue to record and feed their material out to the world via their production company MWPSongs. Their next goal is to turn the stories and songs of their tunes into a Live entity, and they're planning to put on gigs around town in 2008.
