Mikey started his career back in 1983 with the legendary Unity Sound System in London. Continually rocking the dancehalls then and being a competitor with Shaka's sound the whole thing grew until Rib, the man behind Unity, finally started to produce own tracks. Thus the absolutely unique Unity sound was created, mostly digital smashers simply done with Casio keyboards and SynDrums, the energetic and easy vocal style of the sound system crew all over the place. Mikey scored a few hits then, like the brilliant 'We Try' or 'Ride Pon The Riddim' which reached no. 3 in the Reggae charts, and many more. To get an impression of those huge tunes and unmistakable style you should definitely check the 'Watch How The People Dancing: Unity Sounds From The London Dancehall 1986-89' 2LP on Honest Jon's, collecting many classics that are in the same league with the best of Jammy$ or Tubby's digital tracks. A must! After a longer break from the game Mikey has come back hotter than ever and with a more matured, highly variable voice to record his first solo album 'In The Name Of Love' together with Kris Kemist on Realityshock Records.
