With much to announce about love, life and youth, the singer-songwriter, Molly Bea declares her independence with her self-penned and confident debut release entitled “Over You,” produced by Soren Anders of Shimmerplanet and recorded at Soundtrack Studios in New York City. Molly Bea’s musical journey began with singing and piano in Little Rock, Arkansas and led her to New York City when she was sixteen. She graduated from the Professional Performing Arts School where she further developed her writing skills and style. In May of 2006, Molly graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Marymount Manhattan College, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Molly Bea confesses, “When I sit at the piano, I truly have to be inspired before I can play a single note and then I begin that musical, magical songwriting process as the piano becomes my home until the song is complete. When studying psychology, I found myself in a very prolific state as I connected with the light and dark aspects of the human condition.” Ultimately, the songs on her debut release are about the human need to control or be controlled. Molly Bea’s acting career began as Baby June in the production “Gypsy” at the University of Arkansas. From there, Murry’s Playhouse became her home, until she continued her musical and acting training in New York City. She studied at the HB Studio, Weist-Barron Film School, Michael Howard Studios, Alvin Ailey Dance and with the acclaimed Luigi at Luigi’s Jazz Centre. She has performed at the Actor’s Institute and has been cast in numerous theater/film productions, including Law & Order:SVU. Molly Bea has an infatuation with all music genres. She culls inspiration from 1970’s rock bands like The Eagles and singers such as Joni Mitchell while finding more contemporary insight from bands like Radiohead and songwriters such as Fiona Apple. Molly Bea may be a newcomer to the music stage, but this young songwriter conveys wisdom, intuition and boldness about the human condition. Her lyrics and her harmonic language are both rich and textured with complexity. Fans that know her well are intrigued by the dark qualities of the music written by this typically outwardly jovial songstress.
