My Beloved

My Beloved are a Danish instrumental rock band that combine a dark ambience sound in a post-rock style; in their own words they describe themselves as an "Instrumental Music Noir" band. They formed around 1996-1997 in Copenhagen by guitarist Iver Ask Overgaard, drummer Danny Søndergaard, bass player Zani Talevski and pianist/synth-player Lars Kivig. Recording for their fifth studio album began in September 2015. One year later in 2001 they released "THE EAR" which includes two studio tracks plus 4 live tracks. Then 2 two years later in 2003 they released their third album "SERVANT OF SECRET PLACES" which includes 9 full compositions. Servant of Secret Places was noticed in the Danish music-underground and My Beloved, who by then had played at several Festivals and at The Danish Mastership in Rock, got more noticed for their unique soundscape. Servant of Secret Places are by some considered My Beloved real debut-album. MY BELOVED aligned their success "debut", "Servant Of Secret Places" with "On Happiness Hill"(2005) and cemented with their sinister, dark and incredibly well reviewed 2nd album, that MY BELOVED was an extremely innovative, imaginative and acknowledged band with a growing fan crowd in both US, Europe and Asia. Because of the instrumental nature of the albums My Beloved had a guest singer and musicians attending their live shows in 2005. The next following years MY BELOVED was touring in Germany and Denmark meanwhile making new material for a new album. November 2008 MY BELOVED released their 3rd official album "FORCE FEEDING LOVE". This album was the result of 3 turbulent years for each band member and was enhanced with collaborations with John Contreras (Current 93) on cello and Zef Noi$e (Psychic TV) on viola. The music kept the band together through rough times and the result was released on cd and double vinyl. 4 years later, MY BELOVED released their 4th album, "SOIL" (2012). SOIL was released the 12th of November 2012 and was perfecting the sound and vitality with a live recorded album-release with a little more light and colourful nuances compared to the earlier releases. SOIL was received with very positive reviews and feedback and adds to the fact that MY BELOVED continues as one of the worlds finest practitioners and champions of the Instrumental Music Noir, progoth idiom. MY BELOVED are now playing magnificent capturing instrumental music noir that in basis consists of guitar, synths, piano, drums and bass. The music is a mood creating and emotional maelstrom that with storming crescendo's and beautiful passages creates a lively and organic feeling of existence and will. The experimenting sound-surfaces clarify the presence of the art and especially of the passion, and the use of noise makes MY BELOVED appear as a totally unique band, which with new thinking and in a different way produce yet another fearless album.
