Every note written by Nathan Fox encompasses those three words. Fox began playing piano as soon as he was able to reach the ivories and wrote his first song “Dr. Marten” at the age of 16. When he was 19 he left his hometown of La Jolla, California to tour the United States as the bass player for the New York City independent rock band Granian. The event marks the beginning of his career in music. Nathan’s EP release I’m All Done delivers throwback flavors dripping with cordial heartache and gritty soul. The album’s masterfully crafted songs range from the heartfelt folk duet “Losing Hope” featuring Nashville’s very own Caitlin Rose, through the upbeat New Orleans Dixieland -inspired “Cutie Pie”, and into the deep Memphis soul of “Dr. Marten”. It’s a smooth blend of strings, horns, and good old-fashioned storytelling pleasantly combined in a mix of rich sonic qualities. The album was recorded entirely analog at The Bomb Shelter Studio - Nashville by distinguished engineer/producer Andrija Tokic (The Alabama Shakes, Caitlin Rose, Buffalo Clover). Fox collaborated with composer/producer Jake Staley to co-produce the album featuring fantastic performances by industry veterans including bassist Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, Faith Hill, Chet Atkins, John Mellencamp), drummer Fred Eltringham (The Wallflowers, K.D. Lang, The Dixie Chicks), and banjo player Richard Bailey (Al Green, George Jones, Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash). Fox graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2007 with a degree in songwriting. His work has appeared as song and/or score in films such as The Tortured, Anniversary at Shallow Creek, and Seven Below. With over fifteen years of finessing his talent and coming into his own, Nathan Fox has become a man who knows no bounds when it comes to the art of making good music. With every note composed and every lyric penned he truly makes you feel love and soul. Read more on Last.fm.
